Location: Tabernacle Cardiff, Pen-y-wain Road, Roath, Cardiff CF24 4GG
We are so grateful to God for the provision of the Pen-y-Wain Road buildings which are strictly reserved for church meetings and activities. To avoid disappointment, please note that the property is not available for hire and we do not host concerts.
We are more than happy to help you to attend our services. Please do not hesitate to contact us (see Contact and Addresses page) and we can offer support, such as arranging a lift or enable your access into the building as necessary.
Advice for Blue Badge holders
If you have a blue badge you can park in the residential spaces for three hours, as long as you display the time on the badge. There are a number of residential spaces across the road to the church and nearby. There are also a two disabled spaces near the church (one across the road to the church entrance and one on Morlais Street beside the church) which you can use with a blue badge and park as long as you wish, although please consider the church’s neighbours who may depend on this facility. Follow the three links here to discover some precise location details using what3words:
- Front door of chapel
- Front door of hall
- Disabled bay on Morlais Street (please take care on this narrow residential dead-end street)
Advice on Parking near the Church and surrounds
Parking around the church is severely restricted to residential permit-holders and we have no permits. Maneuvering around Pen-y-Wain Road is hazardous because the road is extremely busy. You can spend 15-30 minutes driving around trying to find a parking space. It is therefore recommended that drivers drop-off the infirm or very young at the Chapel (see Drop-off suggestions below) and proceed to park on Mackintosh Place (single line restrictions are often not in force during main service times), Ninian Road, Alder Road (a dead-end accessed from Ty-Draw Road), Lake Road East, and walk in – these can take 3-10 minutes, and so, PLEASE let us know and we can help bring those being dropped off to the door (the walk up from Ninian Road may be too steep for the elderly or otherwise infirm). Cathays Cemetery car park (OpenMaps link) is 7 minutes walk away and may offer (a lovely setting and) free parking while the gates are open (seasonal opening hours published on the cemetery website). You can pay to park 7 minutes walk away in a car park off Crwys Road (OpenMaps link). Slightly further away is the Penylan Library Pay and Display Car Park, although this may be free of charge on Sundays.
Returning to your car in the dark after a service can be worrying so please ask and we will gladly arrange to escort you.
Drop-off suggestions:
- Pen-y-Wain Road lane entrance (gated, but stewards have a key) – proceed very carefully down the lane because of blind exits and clear the lane as soon as possible to exit onto Ninian Road.
- Pen-y-Wain Road just down from busy t-junction with Mackintosh Place
- Mackintosh Place just below the busy t-junction with Pen-y-Wain Road
Cyclists
Cyclists may lock up their bikes using the public stands at the top of Morlais Street or, since that is not safe without very good locks, stewards can facilitate access for safekeeping in the hall.
